KEFIR......................................................
Dream Biscuits
1 c flour
1/2 t salt
2 t sugar
2 t baking powder
3 T butter
kefir
Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder. Cut in butter. Add kefir until dough is right consistency. Roll out and cut. Bake 10 mintues @ 450.
Corn Bread
1 c corn meal
1 c flour
1 T sugar
4 t baking powder
dash salt
1 c kefir
2 eggs
1/3 c oil
Mix dry ingredients. Add eggs, oil, kefir. Pour in greased 8x8 pan. Bake 25-30 minutes @ 425.
Banana Bread
1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c kefir
2 t baking soda
2 1/4 c flour
1/2 t salt
1 t baking powder
2 c bananas (about 3 bananas)
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, kefir, soda, flour, salt, baking powder. Add bananas last. Pour into 2 loaf pans. Bake 1 hour @ 375.
Chocolate Snack Cake
1 1/2 c sugar
1/2 c cocoa
1 T baking soda
1/2 t salt
2 c flour
1 egg
2/3 c veg oil
1 c kefir
1 t vanilla
1 c boiling, strong coffee
Mix sugar, cocoa, soda, salt, and flour. Add egg, veg oil, kefir, and vanilla. Mix. Add hot coffee. Mix. Pour into greased and floured 9x13 pan. Bake 40 minutes @ 350.
BREADS......................................................
Awesome Wheat Bread
1 pkg yeast
1 1/4 c warm water
5 T honey
2 1/2 c oil
2 T sugar
1/2 t salt
1 c whole wheat flour
1/4 c ground flax
white or bread flour
Dissolve yeast in water. Add 1 T sugar. Wait a couple minutes. Add honey, oil, remaining sugar, salt, whole wheat flour and flax. Add white flour until smooth, soft dough forms. Turn onto floured surface and knead 10 minutes. Place in bowl and let rise 1 hour. Punch down, let rest 15 minutes. Shape into loaf. Cover, let rise until nearly double. Bake 35 minutes @ 350.
Cinnamon Rolls
2 c flour
1/4 c sugar
1 pkg yeast
1 c warm water
2 T butter
1 egg
Mix all together. Add 1 more cup flour. Let rise 30 minutes. Roll out. Spread with butter/cinnamon/sugar/brown sugar as desired. Roll up. Cut into 12 slices. Place in pan of caramel topping. Let rise. Bake 30 minutes @ 375. Invert and serve.

Runzas
4-5 c flour
1/2 c sugar
1 t salt
2 pkgs yeast
3/4 c milk
1/2 c butter
1/2 c water
2 eggs
1 lb. hamburger browned
shredded cabbage - cooked with browned hamburger - as much as you desire
Mix 1 3/4 c flour, yeast, sugar, and salt and set aside. Heat milk, water, and butter to just below boiling. Add to dry ingredients. Add eggs. Mix until moist. Stir in remaining flour until soft dough. Let rise to double. Punch down and roll out. Cut into squares. Scoop browned hamburger with cabbage onto each square. Fold in, corners first. Place folded side down and bake 20 minutes @ 350. These are great with cheese in them too - or with ham and cheese - or make up your own fillings.
Porcupines
1 lb ground beef
1/2 c uncooked rice
1/2 c water
1/2 c chopped onion
Combine. Add salt, garlic powder, pepper and other desired spices. Shape into balls. Brown. Put meatballs in 10x13 pan.
15 oz. tomato sauce
1 c water.
Combine and pour over meatballs. Bake 45 minutes covered + 15 minutes uncovered @ 350.

Yellow Cake
1/2 c butter
1 1/4 c sugar
2 c flour
1 T baking powder
1 t salt
2 eggs
3/4 c milk (I haven't tried this one with kefir yet, when I do, if it works, I will move it)
1 t vanilla
Cream butter and sugar. Add salt and baking powder. Add 1/2 of flour. Add 1/2 of milk. Add eggs and vanilla. Add remaining flour. Add remaning milk. Mix well after each addition. Pour into greased and floured 9x13 pan. Bake 30 minutes @ 375.
Chocolate Zucchini Cake
1/2 c butter
1/2 c oil
1 3/4 c sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
1/2 c milk (haven't tried this one with kefir either)
2 1/2 c flour
4 T cocoa
1/2 t salt
1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t cinnamon
2 c grated zucchini, fresh or frozen
Optional toppings:
1/2 c nuts
1/2 c chocolate chips
Mix all ingredients in order. Pour into 9x13 pan and top with nuts and/or chocolate chips. Bake 45 minutes @ 325.
Apple Crisp
3 c sliced apples, fresh or frozen
1 c sugar
1 1/2 T flour
Mix. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Put in 9x9 pan.
3/4 c oatmeal
3/4 c brown sugar
3/4 c flour
1/4 t baking powder
1/4 t baking soda
1/2 c melted butter
Mix all but butter. Melt butter and add to mixture. Crumble over apples. Bake 30 minutes @ 350.
Jail Brownies
2 sticks butter
2 c sugar
2 t vanilla
4 eggs
1 c flour
3/4 c cocoa
1/2 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
Mix butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add eggs. Add flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Pour into greased pan. Bake 30 minutes @ 350.
Puppy Chow
9 c Chex (we have used bite sized frosted shredded wheat -it is good too)
1 c chocolate chips
1/2 c peanut butter
1/4 c butter
1 t vanilla
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
Heat chocolate chips and peanut butter until melted. Add vanilla. Pour over cereal and mix. Put in bag and add powdered sugar. Shake to coat cereal. Spread on waxed paper to cool.
Chocolate Syrup
1 1/2 c sugar
1 c cream
1/3 c cocoa
1 T butter
1/4 t salt
1/2 t vanilla
Heat to boil. Boil 5 minutes. Store in jar in refrigerator or reuse a chocolate syrup bottle. Great for ice cream. Works for chocolate milk too - needs a little extra mixing!
