Something to think about......

Thousands of years ago the Mayans predicted that the world would end in 2012.  Many people believe this to be true.  Others believe that a major, world-changing event will occur because of the "aligning of the planets" on December 21, 2012.  Being a Christian, I believe only God knows when the world will end - it could very well be 12-21-12, but it could also be tomorrow or 10 years from today.  The Bible advises us to be prepared for the future but not to worry about tomorrow.

I haven't much studied up on the Mayan prophecy to know exactly what they predicted or why, but I know that it has got some people worried.  Between the scariness in the world in general, and the end-of-the-world predictions, there are many people who feel we need to prepare.  And while I agree that it never hurts to be prepared for an emergency, there are people who will wait until the last minute and start hoarding food/supplies.  I think there are still people with canned foods in their pantry from Y2K. :)

Being prepared for an emergency is a good idea.  Having food to eat and water to drink if you lose power, communications, and/or transportation for several days or weeks is a wise move in preparing for a disaster.  I happened upon a blog today about emergency preparedness and one commenter had this wise piece of advice that I would like to pass along to all of you:
One thing that we need to realize is that even if nothing happens in one year one thing that will happen is the panic buying that people will do. I expect major shortages of just about everything from about October through December. People are going to start hording…just in case. We need to make sure we are prepared so we don’t get caught up in that panic.

Are you ready for a disaster, natural or otherwise?  Are you prepared for the future?  The world WILL end and when it does the ONLY thing you need to have done to be ready is accepted Jesus as your Savior.  The rest he will take care of.
