I have decided to join the Pantry Challenge at good (CHEAP) eats and I would love to invite you to come along. I love the idea of using what I have, rather than buying more. I have been on a mission lately to declutter my entire house and reduce the amount of "stuff" we have that we are not regularly using, so this pantry challenge will fit right in with my goal. Since there are no rules to the challenge, here are the goals I have:
#1 - Reduce my spending for the month. By ordering fruit and a few essentials from Azure, I think I will be able to cut my total budget in at least half and not go to the grocery store even once this month :)
#2 - Make space in my cupboards. I like to stockpile, but I do have some things in my pantry that have been there forever and really need to get used up.
#3 - Reduce the amount of meat in my freezer. Like some of the other participants, my freezer is overdue for a defrosting. Having a VERY full freezer can be a mixed blessing. I know we have enough meat/veggies to see us through several months, but eventually I need to see the bottom and do some intensive thawing and cleaning. This really needs to happen before we butcher chickens this summer and begin to once again fill the freezer.
#4- Have fun. I love to plan. I enjoy cooking (usually). I like to try new recipes. I am excited to have fun seeing what kinds of great things we can eat this month while saving money.
The pantry challenge host will be posting a link each Monday so we can see each other's progress, so I intend to update and link up on Mondays. Feel free to join me! Happy Pantry-Challenge-January!
