Well, I just couldn't force myself to read the book for February which was Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. I love Jane Austen movies, but the language of the book was just so hard to follow. And they kept referring to the same people by different names - sometimes Miss last name, sometimes Miss first name. Then I didn't have a clue who they were talking about when and I was so lost after about 20 pages, I just gave up. I enjoy books that read more simply so this just wasn't my cup of tea!!
HOWEVER, a great book I read this month is Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo. A friend loaned it to me at church and when I went to bed Sunday night I was finished with it. It was SO GOOD I couldn't stop reading it. I would have to say it is the very best book I have EVER read. It was so real. It was so down to earth. It was so shocking. It was so AMAZING. I am going to read it to my kids because it is SO important. I haven't stopped thinking about it. Just a little glimpse into the book: A four year old boy has an emergency appendectomy and claims that during the surgery he left his body and visited Jesus in heaven. He tells his parents about what they were doing (in separate rooms) while he was in surgery. He tells them things about heaven and Jesus that no 4 year old would ever know and they are able to back up his facts with the Bible. He tells them things about heaven and Jesus they didn't know, but is able to describe so fully that they know he isn't making it up. The dad of the boy is a pastor in Imperial Nebraska (making it pretty close to home). He is shocked at first and doesn't believe it but the more he quizzes the boy and the more stories the boy tells, the more he starts to really believe. And I have to say, I have faith that heaven is real. I have faith that God is real. But there is something amazing about reading about this little boy's experience of actually having been there and sat on Jesus's lap. This book is a MUST READ. And after you buy it and read it, pass it on. The whole world should read this book.
